An exceptional pair of campana shape bronze Bacchanalian lamps by Thomas Messenger, <br>
English circa 1820.<br>

A painting on copper by "Octavo Rene " in the green closet, Ham House -- Richmond, is similar to the designs around<br>
the bodies of these urns.<br>

When in use as lamps, the domed lids with flame finials, would be removed and a metal frame to support<br>
a frosted and cut glass shade, could be employed. ( now absent )<br>
