in the manner of the french sculptor Frederic Auguste Bartholdi ( 1834 -- 1904 )

Bartholdi is best known as the sculptor of The Statue of Liberty

The cast iron bust was covered with heated sheets of copper and then
struck with wooden hammers, the method used to shape it known as Repousse.
